I use nail polish for several different items at times. I rarely use it on my nails but on several other items. To view the lines on the sewing plate I have carefully painted and then scraped off with a plastic "gift or credit" card prior to drying completely. If you are not happy with your result, use nail polish remover and when completely dry and redo. Purchase any color desired of nail polish from any drug store, dollar store or use what you have at home. Many colors allow for marking several different measurements for easy reference.
