A good nail file will remove any burrs or sharpen needles or pins. I gently move the needle or pin, in the same direction, using short (less than 1/8" or less) movements, in the direction from the eye to the point, turning the pin or needle a slight bit every swipe down the file. I have found just filing the pointed edge is required. When checking the sharpness or removal of the burr, be careful as it can become very sharp. Any nail file purchased at a drug store or dollar store will work well.
